In today's exploration of Exodus 33, we encounter one of the most intimate moments in Scripture: Moses standing before God, pleading not just for provision or protection, but for His presence. The Lord initially declares He will send an angel to lead Israel to the Promised Land, but He Himself will not go because of their stubborn rebellion. Yet Moses boldly intercedes, demonstrating the kind of relationship with God we're all called to pursue. His response is remarkable: 'If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.' Moses understood what we must grasp today—that success without God's presence is meaningless. We see God's heart soften through Moses' intercession, reminding us that we too can stand in the gap for others who are wandering. The chapter culminates in Moses asking to see God's glory, and God responds by placing him in the cleft of the rock, covering him with His hand. This beautiful imagery foreshadows Christ, our Rock, who makes it possible for us to come into God's presence without being consumed by His holiness. The question for us today is profound: Do we have the confidence to seek God's presence above all else? Are we willing to be our brother's keeper, interceding for those who have strayed? In these last days, we must trust Him completely, walking in His steps with the sure-footedness of a deer on mountain heights, listening carefully for the Holy Spirit's guidance in every moment.
