MY DAILY DEVOTION

The Call May End. Your Time In The Word Doesn't Have To.

Every morning, the My Daily Bread Global community gathers to read the Word, pray together, and start the day in the presence of Jesus. Now, you can carry that encounter with you beyond the call. Think of this as your next step after the morning call: a few intentional moments to revisit the Word, quiet your heart, ask deeper questions, and allow what you heard this morning to become something you live today.

The Cornerstone That Cannot Be Moved- October 19, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 28:14-17 Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scoffers, who rule this people in Jerusalem! Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have an agreement, when the overwhelming whip passes through it will not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge, and in falsehood we have taken shelter”; therefore thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion, a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation: ‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’ And I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plumb line; and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and waters will overwhelm the shelter.”
DEVOTIONAL: Isaiah 28 opens with a sobering picture of leaders drunk on wine, reeling in their own visions, stumbling in their judgments. But tucked inside the chaos is one of the most important declarations in all of Scripture. God announces that He is laying a foundation stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone. Everything is to be measured against it. Justice is the measuring line. Righteousness is the plumb line. What does not align must go. Jesus is that cornerstone. When we build our decisions, our relationships, our ambitions, and our identities on anything other than Him, we are building on ground that will not hold. The question is not whether the storm will come. The question is what your foundation is made of.
REFLECT: In what areas of your life are you building on comfort, approval, or self-sufficiency rather than on the truth of who Jesus is?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Identify one decision you are currently facing. Before moving forward, hold it up against this question: Is this aligned with what God has said, or is it aligned with what I want to hear?

Hope Is Always the Final Word- October 17, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Micah 7:18-20 Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.
DEVOTIONAL: Every book of the prophets ends with hope. Micah is no different. After the mourning, after the correction, after the honest reckoning with sin and its consequences, the final word belongs to the character of God. Who is a God like Him, pardoning iniquity, passing over transgression, delighting in steadfast love? He casts sins into the depths of the sea. He does not retain His anger forever. He will again have compassion. And Isaiah echoes it -- your dead shall live, their bodies shall rise, awake and sing for joy. This is the heartbeat of true prophecy. Judgment is never the destination. Hope is. Whatever darkness you have been sitting in, the Lord's final word over your life is not condemnation. It is restoration.
REFLECT: Have you been hearing a voice of condemnation over your life that has no hope attached to it? How does the ending of Micah reframe what you have been believing about yourself or your future?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Find a trusted friend or fellow believer this week and speak one word of genuine hope over their life. Let the pattern of the prophets shape the way you speak into the lives of those around you -- correction where needed, but always ending with the hope that is found in Christ alone.

The Closeness of the One Who Wipes Tears- October 16, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 25:8-9 He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”
DEVOTIONAL: Isaiah's vision of the coming feast is not merely about abundance. It is about proximity. The God who swallows up death forever is the same God who cups a face in His hands and wipes away tears with His thumbs. That kind of tenderness requires closeness. It is impossible to wipe tears from someone's eyes at arm's length. This image of God is one of radical nearness. Whatever sorrow you are carrying today, whatever tears have accumulated from disappointment, shame, weariness, or regret, God is not observing your pain from a distance. He is close enough to touch your face. He is that near.
REFLECT: What tears are you carrying today that you have not yet allowed God to wipe away? Is there grief, shame, or disappointment you have been managing on your own rather than bringing into the nearness of His presence?
APPLY & TRANSFORM:  Spend five minutes in silence today. No agenda, no requests. Simply allow yourself to be present with God and receive His nearness as the devotional reality it is, not just a theological concept.

Extreme Ownership and The Cross- October 15, 2026

SCRIPTURE: 1 Chronicles 21:8 - And David said to God, “I have sinned greatly in that I have done this thing. But now, please take away the iniquity of your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.”
1 Chronicles 21:17 - And David said to God, “Was it not I who gave command to number the people? It is I who have sinned and done great evil. But these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O LORD my God, be against me and against my father’s house. But do not let the plague be on your people.”
DEVOTIONAL: Philippians 2:5-8 describes how Christ, though equal with God, humbled himself, took on human form, and was obedient even to death on a cross, the ultimate act of selfless sacrifice. When David sinned by numbering Israel, he did not deflect blame. He stood before God and said plainly that he was the one who had sinned and done great evil. He then asked that the consequences fall on him rather than on his people. This is extreme ownership, and it mirrors the heart of Jesus, who said that no one takes his life from him but that he lays it down willingly. The cross was not something that happened to Jesus. It was something he chose. True spiritual maturity begins when we stop blaming our past, our circumstances, and others, and take full responsibility for our walk with God.
REFLECT: Is there an area of your life where you have been shifting blame rather than owning your choices before God?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Write down one area where you have been deflecting responsibility. Bring it before God in prayer today and ask him to help you walk in full ownership and repentance.

The Altars We Build- October 14, 2026

SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 21:1-9 - Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah. And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the despicable practices of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. For he rebuilt the high places that Hezekiah his father had destroyed, and he erected altars for Baal and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel had done, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, “In Jerusalem will I put my name.” And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. And he burned his son as an offering and used fortune-telling and omens and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger. And the carved image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever. And I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander anymore out of the land that I gave to their fathers, if only they will be careful to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the Law that my servant Moses commanded them.” But they did not listen, and Manasseh led them astray to do more evil than the nations had done whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel.
DEVOTIONAL: Manasseh did not just build altars in the hills. He brought them into the house of the Lord -- the very place where God had said He would put His name. Before we judge him too quickly, we must ask ourselves the harder question: What altars have we constructed inside our own hearts? An altar is a place of sacrifice. But not everything we lay down on the altar of our lives belongs to God. Sometimes we sacrifice our peace chasing approval. Sometimes we sacrifice our integrity pursuing comfort. God is calling us to tear down whatever we have erected in the sacred space of our hearts that does not reflect His character, and to replace it with the only altar that matters -- a life offered fully to Him.
REFLECT: What has slowly taken up residence in the sacred space of your heart that does not belong to God? What would it look like to tear it down and rebuild an altar of genuine surrender?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Spend ten minutes in quiet prayer today, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal any area of your life where something other than God has become an object of your devotion. Confess it and surrender it.

He Has Paid the Full Ransom- October 13, 2026

SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 1:18-19 - knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
DEVOTIONAL: Psalm 111 declares that God has paid a full ransom for His people and guaranteed His covenant with them forever. Every bull, every ram, every lamb offered across the days described in Numbers 29 pointed forward to the one offering that would be enough. Jesus. As the count of bulls decreased day by day during the Feast of Tabernacles, the arrow of history was moving toward a single moment, a single sacrifice, a single Lamb without blemish. All of the law, all of the offerings, all of the blood of animals was a shadow of what was coming. And what came was Jesus, the one offering that was truly pleasing to the Father. You are not earning your way into God's presence through performance or perfect attendance. The ransom has been paid. The covenant has been sealed. Your standing before God is not based on how well you did this week. It is based on what Jesus did on the cross. Rest in that today. Receive it fully. And let gratitude become the fuel for everything you offer Him in return.
REFLECT: In what areas of your life are you still trying to earn what Jesus has already purchased for you, and what would it look like to simply receive His grace today?

Do Not Let the Vision Be Stillborn- October 12, 2026

SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 19:3 - And they said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah: ‘This day is a day of trouble, and rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children have come to birth, but there is no strength to bring them forth.
DEVOTIONAL: Hezekiah described his crisis with a devastating image -- children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth. This is one of the most accurate descriptions of a believer who has carried a God-given dream to the edge of delivery and then grown too exhausted to push through. God spoke directly into that moment. He did not dismiss the exhaustion. He sent a prophet. He provided counsel. He declared that the remnant would take root downward and bear fruit upward. The zeal of the Lord would accomplish it. Your dream is not dead. You are simply in the final and most difficult moments of delivery. Seek prophetic counsel. Surround yourself with those who hear from God. The vision will not be stillborn.
REFLECT:
* What God-given vision or promise have you been carrying that feels close to dying?
* Who are the prophetic voices in your life that speak truth and encouragement into your calling?
* How does knowing that "the zeal of the Lord" will accomplish His purposes change your posture toward your own exhaustion?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Identify one trusted, spiritually mature voice in your life -- an apostle, prophet, shepherd, teacher, or evangelist. Reach out to them this week and share what God has placed in your heart. Invite their counsel and prayer.

It Only Takes One- October 10, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Numbers 25:10-13 - Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned back My wrath from the children of Israel, because he was zealous with My zeal among them, so that I did not consume the children of Israel in My zeal. Therefore say, Behold, I give to him My covenant of peace; and it shall be to him and his descendants after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.’ ”
DEVOTIONAL: Phinehas stood up when no one else would, and a plague was stopped. One man, one act of courageous faithfulness, changed the outcome for an entire community. Scripture returns to this moment again and again because God wants us to understand the weight of the individual. You may feel small. Your ministry may feel unseen. The numbers may not reflect the work you are doing. But God does not measure impact the way the world does. One faithful teacher sent back to Samaria turned hearts toward the Lord. One person willing to speak truth into a family line can alter generations. Do not despise the day of small things. Show up. Stand up. It only takes one.
REFLECT: Do you believe that your faithfulness matters, even when you cannot see measurable results? Who in your life needs you to be that one person who stands in the gap for them?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Reach out today to one person you feel prompted to encourage, pray for, or speak truth to. Do not wait for the perfect moment. Be the one who shows up.

Do Not Change the Pattern- October 9, 2026

SCRIPTURE:  2 Kings 16: 10-11  Now King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the design of the altar and its pattern, according to all its workmanship. Then Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus. So Urijah the priest made it before King Ahaz came back from Damascus.
Hebrews 8:1-6 — The writer of Hebrews describes how the earthly sanctuary was built according to a heavenly pattern shown to Moses, emphasizing that God's design is intentional and must not be altered.
DEVOTIONAL: In chapter 8:1-6 the writer of Hebrews describes how the earthly sanctuary was built according to a heavenly pattern shown to Moses, emphasizing that God's design is intentional and must not be altered. King Ahaz looked at the altar in Damascus and liked what he saw. It was impressive, foreign, and new. So he sent a detailed model of it back to Jerusalem and had it replicated in the house of God. He replaced what God had designed with what the world had built. And Uriah the priest, who should have refused, simply complied. This is one of the most sobering patterns in all of Scripture. When the people of God begin to look to the world for the blueprint of their worship, they have already begun to drift. God gave Moses an exact pattern for a reason. Every detail of the tabernacle pointed to Jesus. Changing the pattern means obscuring the picture. This applies not only to corporate worship but to the way you order your personal life, your family, and your priorities. God has a design. Trust it. Do not trade it for something that merely looks impressive.
REFLECT: In what areas of your life have you adopted the world's blueprint instead of God's? Where have you allowed culture to redefine what faithfulness looks like?
APPLICATION: Spend time in prayer today asking God to reveal any area where you have allowed an outside influence to reshape something He originally designed. Commit to returning to His pattern in that area.

Set Your Face Toward the Source- October 8, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Numbers 24:1-2; Isaiah 50:7; James 4:8
Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not go as at other times, to seek to use sorcery, but he set his face toward the wilderness. And Balaam raised his eyes, and saw Israel encamped according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.
DEVOTIONAL: Balaam turned away from outward methods and set his face toward the wilderness. In that moment of reorientation, the Spirit of God moved upon him and his eyes began to see clearly. There are seasons when we begin in the flesh, straining to see through confusion and circumstance. But consistency toward the presence of God changes everything. Isaiah declares that the Lord God will help us, and because of that, we can set our face like flint and refuse to be ashamed. Draw near to God with intention and persistence. He will meet you there. He always does.
REFLECT:  What outward sources have you been consulting instead of going directly to God? What would it look like today to set your face like flint toward His presence?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Spend ten minutes in silence before God this morning before reaching for your phone, your news feed, or any other source of information. Let Him be the first voice you seek.

The Mountain That Cannot Be Moved- October 7, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Micah 4:1-5 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And peoples shall flow to it. Many nations shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He shall judge between many peoples, And rebuke strong nations afar off; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore. But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, And no one shall make them afraid; For the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken. For all people walk each in the name of his god, But we will walk in the name of the LORD our God Forever and ever.
DEVOTIONAL: There is a mountain rising above every other mountain, and its name is the Lord. In a world that offers countless competing summits to climb, competing kingdoms to serve, and competing voices to follow, God declares that His house will be established as the highest of all. This is not a distant promise for a future generation alone. It is an invitation extended to you today. The nations stream toward His presence not because they are forced, but because they are drawn. What draws them is the same thing that draws every weary soul: the promise of a teacher who knows the way, a judge who cannot be corrupted, and a king whose reign produces peace. Every sword beaten into a plowshare is a testimony that violence never has the final word. God does.
REFLECT: Ask yourself today; what competing mountain am I climbing when the mountain of the Lord is already established and waiting for me?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Identify one area of your life where you have been seeking answers or direction from a source other than God. Bring that specific area to Him in prayer today and ask Him to teach you His ways in it.

Filled With Power, Not Performance - October 6, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Micah 3:8 - But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, And of justice and might, To declare to Jacob his transgression And to Israel his sin.
DEVOTIONAL: Micah 3:8 describes the prophet declaring that his strength came not from his position or influence, but entirely from being filled with God's Spirit. Acts 1:8 echoes this, promising that the Holy Spirit would supply the power needed to be witnesses in the earth. There is a difference between being charismatic and being Spirit-filled. One is a personality trait. The other is a divine endowment. Micah did not point to his platform or his popularity when he stood before corrupt leaders. He pointed to the source. The Spirit of the Lord was his evidence. In a world saturated with amplified voices and manufactured influence, it is worth pausing to ask whether what you are doing carries the weight of heaven or simply the momentum of human promotion. Spiritual authority cannot be manufactured. It can only be received, and it flows to those who pursue God's presence over the praise of people.
REFLECT: Is what you are doing for God marked by His presence, or is it being sustained by your own personality and effort?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Before your next opportunity to speak, serve, or lead, take a deliberate moment of silence and ask the Holy Spirit to be the source of everything that follows.

Stay At Your Post- October 5, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 21:6-9 For thus has the Lord said to me: “Go, set a watchman, Let him declare what he sees.” And he saw a chariot with a pair of horsemen, A chariot of donkeys, and a chariot of camels, And he listened earnestly with great care. Then he cried, “A lion, my Lord! I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime; I have sat at my post every night. And look, here comes a chariot of men with a pair of horsemen!” Then he answered and said, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen! And all the carved images of her gods He has broken to the ground.”
DEVOTIONAL: The watchman in Isaiah 21 is not celebrated for a dramatic act. He is honored for one simple, faithful thing: he stayed. Day after day, night after night, he remained at his post. And because he stayed, he saw. Because he saw, he could speak. Many of us are called to intercession, to prophetic watching, to covering those in our sphere of influence in prayer. The temptation is to abandon the post when nothing seems to be happening. But the Lord is looking for those who will remain. Faithfulness in the unseen hours produces clarity in the critical moment.
REFLECT: What post has God assigned to me, and have I remained faithful to it?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Identify one person or situation the Lord has placed on your heart. Commit to praying over them daily this week without requiring visible results.

Your Enemy, His People- October 3, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 19:1-24 The burden against Egypt. Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud, And will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst. “I will set Egyptians against Egyptians; Everyone will fight against his brother, And everyone against his neighbor, City against city, kingdom against kingdom. The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, And they will consult the idols and the charmers, The mediums and the sorcerers. And the Egyptians I will give Into the hand of a cruel master, And a fierce king will rule over them,” Says the Lord, the LORD of hosts. The waters will fail from the sea, And the river will be wasted and dried up. The rivers will turn foul; The brooks of defense will be emptied and dried up; The reeds and rushes will wither. The papyrus reeds by the River, by the mouth of the River, And everything sown by the River, Will wither, be driven away, and be no more. The fishermen also will mourn; All those will lament who cast hooks into the River, And they will languish who spread nets on the waters. Moreover those who work in fine flax And those who weave fine fabric will be ashamed; And its foundations will be broken. All who make wages will be troubled of soul. Surely the princes of Zoan are fools; Pharaoh’s wise counselors give foolish counsel. How do you say to Pharaoh, “I am the son of the wise, The son of ancient kings?” Where are they? Where are your wise men? Let them tell you now, And let them know what the LORD of hosts has purposed against Egypt. The princes of Zoan have become fools; The princes of Noph are deceived; They have also deluded Egypt, Those who are the mainstay of its tribes. The LORD has mingled a perverse spirit in her midst; And they have caused Egypt to err in all her work, As a drunken man staggers in his vomit. Neither will there be any work for Egypt, Which the head or tail, Palm branch or bulrush, may do. In that day Egypt will be like women, and will be afraid and fear because of the waving of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which He waves over it. And the land of Judah will be a terror to Egypt; everyone who makes mention of it will be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts which He has determined against it. Egypt, Assyria, and Israel Blessed In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear by the LORD of hosts; one will be called the City of Destruction. In that day there will be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the LORD at its border. And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the LORD because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them. Then the LORD will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the LORD in that day, and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the LORD and perform it. And the LORD will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the LORD, and He will be entreated by them and heal them. In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will serve with the Assyrians. In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing in the midst of the land, whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”
DEVOTIONAL: Isaiah 19 opens like a storm. The LORD rides into Egypt on a swift cloud, and everything Egypt trusted starts to fall apart. Egypt was the superpower of the ancient world, and it rested on three pillars. The first was its gods, and Isaiah says the idols "totter" at the Lord's presence. The second was the Nile, the river that fed farmers, fishermen, and weavers. It dries up, and "all who make wages will be troubled of soul." The third was its wisdom. Egypt was famous for its counselors, but the princes of Zoan "have become fools," staggering like drunkards. Religion, economy, and expertise all fail at once.
This is more than ancient history. Every heart has its own Egypt: things we lean on in place of God. It might be a paycheck, a retirement account, a reputation, a relationship, an expert's opinion, or our own cleverness. These things aren't evil in themselves. The Nile was a gift. But when a gift becomes our foundation, God loves us too much to leave it unshaken. Sometimes the river runs low on purpose.
Then the chapter turns in a way no one expected. Five times we hear "In that day," and each one is more astonishing than the last. Egyptians begin to speak the language of God's people. An altar to the LORD stands in the middle of Egypt, the land that once enslaved Israel. When they cry out under oppression, God "will send them a Savior and a Mighty One." The same God who heard Israel's cry in Egypt now hears Egypt's cry. Verse 22 holds the heart of the passage: "The LORD will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the LORD, and He will be entreated by them and heal them." God's judgment was never the end of the story. The striking served the healing. He tore down Egypt's false supports so Egypt would finally lean on Him. The last scene is even more surprising. A highway runs from Egypt to Assyria, and the two empires that had crushed Israel now worship together alongside it. Assyria's great city was Nineveh. And God speaks a blessing almost too bold to believe: "Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance." "My people" was Israel's own title. Now God gives it to her enemies. We see this promise coming true in Jesus Christ, the Savior sent to the nations. Through the cross, God "has broken down the middle wall of separation" (Ephesians 2:14) and is building one family from every tribe and tongue. That includes former enemies, former idol-worshipers, and us. So if the rivers in your life are running dry, don't assume God has turned against you. He may be bringing you to the place where you finally cry out to Him, and He has promised to answer that cry with a Savior. The hand that strikes is also the hand that heals.
REFLECT:  Is God shaking something in my life right now? Could a current loss or struggle be the Lord's mercy, loosening my grip on something so I'll hold onto Him? Who do I see as beyond God's reach? If God could call Egypt and Assyria "My people," is there any person or nation I've quietly written off?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Pray for the nations, including the hard ones. This week, pray by name for a nation or people group that seems far from God or hostile to His people. Ask Him to raise up altars, send His Savior, and build highways of worship there.

The God of Second Chances- October 2, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Jonah 3:1-10
Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you.” So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three-day journey in extent. And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day’s walk. Then he cried out and said, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.
DEVOTIONAL: God called Jonah a second time. Not because Jonah had earned another opportunity, but because God's purposes are not undone by human rebellion. The same word that Jonah finally delivered brought an entire city to its knees. Whatever you have run from, whatever assignment you abandoned out of fear or stubbornness, God has not retracted His call over your life. He is patient, persistent, and purposeful. His mercy is not a reward for perfect obedience. It is the very thing that leads us back to obedience. Today, receive your second chance without shame. Arise and go.
REFLECT:  What assignment has God placed on your heart that you have been avoiding? What would it look like to arise today and take one step toward obedience?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Write down one thing God has been calling you toward that you have been resisting. Pray specifically over that thing and ask God to renew your willingness to obey.

Carrying the Presence Rightly- October 1, 2026

SCRIPTURE: 1 Chronicles 13:1-14
Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader. And David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of the LORD our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and their common-lands, that they may gather together to us; and let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of Saul.” Then all the assembly said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor in Egypt to as far as the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath Jearim. And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, to Kirjath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who dwells between the cherubim, where His name is proclaimed. So they carried the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart. Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets. And when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God. And David became angry because of the LORD’s outbreak against Uzza; therefore that place is called Perez Uzza to this day. David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring the ark of God to me?” So David would not move the ark with him into the City of David, but took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had.
DEVOTIONAL:  David's intentions were good. The celebration was genuine. The music was loud and joyful. And yet something went terribly wrong because the ark was not being carried the way God had instructed. God had given specific directions for how his presence was to be transported, on the shoulders of consecrated priests, not on a cart driven by oxen. The lesson is not simply about ancient religious ceremony. It is about the danger of assuming that sincerity and enthusiasm are a sufficient substitute for obedience. God has not changed his mind about how he wants to be honored. He still wants to be carried into our lives, our homes, and our gatherings on the shoulders of a praying, surrendered people.
REFLECT: Are there areas in your spiritual life where you have substituted good intentions or religious activity for genuine obedience and seeking God's specific direction?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Before your next significant decision, pause and ask God not only whether to move forward, but how. Seek his instruction on the method, not just the destination.

You Cannot Curse What God Has Blessed- September 30, 2026

SCRIPTURE: Numbers 23:19-20
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.
DEVOTIONAL: God's promises over your life are not fragile. They are not subject to the shifting opinions of culture, the schemes of your enemies, or the weight of your circumstances. What God has declared over you stands firm. Balaam could not curse what God had blessed, no matter how many times Balak changed the angle or the location. The enemy operates the same way today, trying to reframe what God has already settled. He will change perspectives, shift narratives, and recruit voices to speak against you. But the word of the Lord remains unchanged. His blessing is not revocable by human hands or demonic strategy. You are blessed because God said so, and that is the final word.
REFLECT: Where have you allowed outside voices to make you question what God has spoken over your life? Write down one promise from Scripture that you will stand on today, regardless of what surrounds you.
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Identify one area of your life where you have been listening to a narrative of defeat. Speak a declaration of God's blessing over that area out loud today. Do it more than once if needed.

Do Not Grow Comfortable - September 29, 2026

SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 13:14-19
Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die. Then Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, “O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!” And Elisha said to him, “Take a bow and some arrows.” So he took himself a bow and some arrows. Then he said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow.” So he put his hand on it, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands. And he said, “Open the east window”; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot”; and he shot. And he said, “The arrow of the LORD’s deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; for you must strike the Syrians at Aphek till you have destroyed them.” Then he said, “Take the arrows”; so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; so he struck three times, and stopped. And the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times.”
DEVOTIONAL:  Elisha's anger at the king was not cruelty. It was the grief of a man who watched someone stop short of complete victory. The king struck the ground three times and stopped, content with partial obedience. God had more. He always has more. We are often guilty of the same thing. We pray until we feel a little better, then stop. We press forward until things seem manageable, then ease up. God is not calling you to a comfortable middle ground. He is calling you to strike until the enemy is fully defeated. Do not stop at three. Go until He says enough.
REFLECT: Where in your spiritual life have you settled for partial victory instead of pressing through to full breakthrough?
APPLY & TRANSFORM: Choose one area of prayer or spiritual discipline where you have been inconsistent. Commit to pressing in daily for the next seven days without stopping short.
