What happens when God calls us to a mission we would rather avoid? The story of Jonah cuts right to the heart of that question, and it turns out the answer is more layered than most of us learned in Sunday school. We explore the uncomfortable reality that running from an assignment does not cancel the calling. In fact, the story reveals something remarkable: the anointing on a life can be so undeniable that even in the middle of our disobedience, people around us are turning to God. The sailors on that ship encountered the living God not because Jonah obeyed, but simply because Jonah was present. That raises a powerful question for each of us: what is God trying to accomplish through us that we keep postponing, avoiding, or outright fleeing? We also sit with the truth that delayed decisions increase consequences. The storm did not calm itself. It intensified until a choice was made. Whether we are young and overwhelmed by the weight of a calling, or older and tempted to believe our best days of usefulness are behind us, this session speaks directly to the lie that disqualifies us from stepping forward. God's mercy pursues us into the deepest, darkest, most confined places, and it is precisely there that transformation begins.
