What does it look like when comfort becomes a trap? In our time together, we wrestled with one of the most quietly dangerous conditions a believer can fall into: complacency. Drawing from Amos chapter six, we were confronted with the sobering picture of people resting in their abundance, easing back into luxury and self-satisfaction while the kingdom around them crumbled. The prophet's warning cuts right through the noise of a busy week and asks us a direct question: are we being effective in our kingdom assignment, or have we let the fullness of our lives crowd out our alertness to what God is doing? The passage is not a case against rest or success. It is a case against carefreeness in the face of responsibility. There is a difference between the holy rest God invites us into and the spiritual drift that happens when we stop asking Him to search our hearts. When we stop crucifying the flesh daily, when we stop inviting correction, we are not resting. We are sleeping on watch. The enemy, as one voice in our gathering reminded us, is not threatened by the atheist. He is most interested in the lukewarm. This session is an invitation to examine where we have grown comfortable in ways that have made us less effective, less alert, and less generous with the kingdom calling on our lives.
