What does it mean to stay close to the presence of God, and what happens when we drift too far away? In this rich gathering around the Word, we journey through Numbers 18 and discover that the Levitical priesthood carries a profound message for every believer today. The Levites were not given an inheritance of land like the other tribes of Israel, and at first glance that might seem like a loss. But the deeper truth is stunning: God himself was their inheritance. He kept them near the tabernacle not to withhold from them, but to protect the intimacy of that relationship. As we explore this passage together, we are confronted with a powerful question for our own lives and ministries: have we wandered too far from the heart of the gospel? First Peter 2:9 reminds us that we are a royal priesthood, a chosen generation, called out of darkness into marvelous light. That calling carries with it a holy responsibility to guard what God has entrusted to us, including one another. The sanctuary in the new covenant is not a building. It is people. We are the dwelling place of God, and how we handle one another reflects how seriously we take that reality. There is also a timely word here about trust. In a season where economic pressure is real and provision feels uncertain, this passage calls us to declare our confidence in God before we voice our complaints about circumstances. The provision of the Lord is greater than inflation, greater than any economic report, and greater than the balance in any account. We are invited this morning to receive God not merely as a source of supply, but as the inheritance itself.
