What does it truly mean to walk in the authority God has given us? In Deuteronomy 28, we encounter one of Scripture's most powerful declarations: when we obey God's voice and walk in His ways, all peoples of the earth will see that we are called by His name—and they will be in awe. This isn't about religious performance or empty ritual; it's about heart posture. Are we serving God with joyfulness and gladness, or are we just going through the motions? The chapter lays out stark contrasts—blessings that overtake us when we follow Him wholeheartedly, and consequences when we turn away. But here's the beautiful truth: we live on this side of the cross. Jesus has already borne the curse so we can walk in freedom. The question becomes: are we stepping into that authority? Are we removing the shame, guilt, and fear that keeps our heads down, and instead walking with the confidence of children called by the name of the Lord? This isn't arrogance—it's the humble recognition that God Himself has established us as His holy people. When we grasp this identity, everything changes. We stop living in torment over forgiven sins. We stop making excuses when God knocks at our door. We wake up to our assignments and stop slumbering in passivity. The enemy wants us distracted, tired, and disengaged, but God is calling us to rise up, shake off the heaviness, and walk in the fullness of who He's created us to be.
