What does it mean to truly guard the holy things God has placed in our lives? In our journey through Ezekiel 44, Acts 12, James 1, and Revelation 21, we are confronted with a powerful and recurring theme: covenant loyalty and the weight of God's presence. From the shut eastern gate of Ezekiel's temple, which remained sealed because the glory of the Lord had passed through it, to the radiant New Jerusalem where God dwells fully and openly with His people, we are invited to ask ourselves a searching question: are we treating the holy things of God with the reverence they deserve? The sons of Zadok stand as a striking model for us. When others led the people astray, they held the line. They kept the charge of the sanctuary. And their reward was not land or wealth, but God Himself. That is the inheritance being held out to us as well. As we reflect on what it means to be gatekeepers of our own hearts and lives, we are challenged to examine who and what we are allowing into our sacred spaces, and whether we are standing firm when the pressure to compromise is greatest.
