What does it look like to be truly awake in a world that tempts us toward spiritual complacency? This session takes us through some of the most searching passages in all of Scripture, from the sharp warnings of Micah chapter two to the sweeping prophetic vision of Daniel chapter two, and asks us to honestly examine the condition of our hearts. Micah confronts us with a sobering question: what are we meditating on when no one is watching? The prophet draws a direct line between the thoughts we entertain in the quiet of the night and the actions we carry out in the light of day. This is not merely ancient history. It is a mirror held up to our own inner lives. We are challenged to consider whether our plans and ambitions are oriented toward serving others or exploiting them, and reminded that God keeps a perfect record of both. At the same time, Micah refuses to let us settle for a version of faith that avoids hard truths. New Testament prophecy, we are reminded, does not abandon correction. It delivers it with love, so that the people of God can return to righteousness. The session closes with a stirring call to identify our place on the wall, to ask the Lord daily who and what He has called us to watch over, and to take that assignment seriously as a holy calling rather than a casual suggestion.
