In this powerful reading, we journey through the final chapters of Deuteronomy, witnessing Moses' blessing over the tribes of Israel and his departure from earthly leadership. The foundation of all blessing is revealed in a simple yet profound truth: 'Yes, he loves the people.' Every good thing in our lives flows not from our merit or works, but from God's outrageous love for us. As Moses blessed each tribe uniquely, we're reminded that God customizes His blessings for each of us—there's no one-size-fits-all approach to His favor. The story challenges us to examine our own lives: Are we living beneath our spiritual privilege because of false beliefs about God? Moses exemplifies servant leadership, showing us that the greatest leaders are the greatest servants. His intimate relationship with God—the only man God personally buried—speaks to the closeness available to all who seek Him. We're also confronted with the importance of proximity in calling: Joshua spent years with Moses before taking leadership, reminding us not to live distant from those God uses to pour into our lives. The Book of Esther concludes with Mordecai's legacy, a man who sought the good of his people rather than personal ambition. When we find needs God wants to fulfill and meet them, we position ourselves for divine elevation. Finally, Song of Solomon warns us not to awaken love until we're ready for covenant—a call to honor relationships and not give ourselves away cheaply. These passages together paint a picture of God's faithful love, the importance of spiritual mentorship, and living with intentionality in every relationship.
