JESUS IN THE TABERNACLE PART 8
What if the very thing you have been too ashamed to bring before God is the exact thing the blood of Jesus was designed to cover? In this session, we take a deep and searching look at the mercy seat, the golden lid that sat atop the Ark of the Covenant, and discover that it is far more than a piece of ancient furniture. Drawing from Exodus 25, we explore how the same surface could function as either a seat of judgment or a seat of mercy, depending entirely on whether blood had been applied. Without blood, God could look down and see every broken law, every missed provision, every act of rebellion recorded inside the ark. But the moment the high priest entered the Holy of Holies and applied blood to that seat, judgment transformed into mercy. This is the picture the Old Testament was painting all along, pointing us toward the moment when the blood of Jesus would hit the heavenly mercy seat once and for all. The parallel drawn between the high priest's annual entry into the Holy of Holies and the Day of Pentecost is particularly striking. Just as Israel waited in silence for the sound of the bells on the priest's garment to confirm the blood had been accepted, the disciples waited in Jerusalem until the sound came from heaven confirming that Jesus, our great High Priest, had accomplished what no animal sacrifice ever could. The case against us is not pending. It is closed.
