JESUS IN THE TABERNACLE- THE ALTAR OF INCENSE PART 2
What if our prayers are more powerful than we have ever dared to believe? This study pulls back the curtain on one of the most vivid symbols in all of Scripture -- the golden altar of incense -- and reveals it as a breathtaking picture of what happens when we pray. Drawing from Psalm 141, Revelation 8, and the priestly rituals of the tabernacle in the wilderness, we discover that our prayers do not simply float into the air and disappear. They are carried, actively and intentionally, into the very throne room of God. The imagery is stunning: just as the high priest took the burning incense from the altar and carried it in a censer into the Holy of Holies, so our prayers are lifted and presented before God himself. Once they are in his hands, no force in heaven or on earth can snatch them away. This is not religious sentiment -- it is the architecture of heaven made visible through the Old Testament types and shadows. We are also reminded of who we are in this equation. First Peter 2:9 declares that we are a chosen generation and a royal priesthood, meaning that prayer is not reserved for a spiritual elite. It is our calling, our function, and our privilege. The question this teaching presses into our hearts is simple but searching: are we actually showing up to pray, or have we let the incense go cold?
