EPISODE 107: DISCIPLESHIP & CORRECTION
What does it really mean to grow in faith? One of the most honest answers might be this: maturity shows up not when we love hearing Scripture, but when we can sit with it as it confronts us. There is a profound difference between seeking a word that makes us feel good and being willing to let the Word do its deeper work. In this conversation, we explore what it looks like to move from being hearers of the Word to being doers, drawing from James chapter one. The truth is, most of us love when Scripture confirms our feelings and gives us that spiritual high. But genuine growth happens in the uncomfortable moments, when the Word holds up a mirror and we have to decide whether we will look honestly at what is reflected back. The Word of God is described in Hebrews chapter four, verses twelve and thirteen as living and active, penetrating to the deepest parts of who we are, discerning the very thoughts and intentions of our hearts. That is not a passive process. It is an invitation to let God do what only He can do inside of us. When we begin to see Scripture as a mirror for our own lives rather than a magnifying glass aimed at everyone else, everything changes. We stop trying to correct the world and start allowing the Word to correct us. And that, it turns out, is where real transformation begins.
