EPISODE 104: LEARNING TO HEAR FROM THE LORD

What does it actually mean to follow Jesus rather than simply believe in him? There is a profound difference between thinking about faith and putting it into action, and that distinction changes everything. The Hebrew roots of Scripture remind us that God's word was never meant to be a theory to sit with quietly but a call to move, to act, and to engage. Just as the prophets walked to distant cities, just as Abraham packed up his entire household and went, and just as Jesus himself walked constantly among the people, we are invited into a faith that moves. Community study of Scripture is not a replacement for personal time with God but a catalyst for it. When we gather around the word together, something gets stirred in us that sends us deeper into our own one-on-one time with the Lord. The parable of the sower in Matthew 13 captures this beautifully. Jesus speaks in parables not to confuse us but to invite us to chase after him, to lean in, to ask questions, to develop the kind of relationship where the deeper language of God begins to make sense. He who has ears, let him hear. That is an invitation, not a barrier. The more we pursue him, the more of himself he reveals. That pursuit, both in community and in solitude, is the heartbeat of discipleship.
