EPISODE 101: WHAT WILL THEY SAY WHEN YOU'RE GONE?

What does it mean to carry both a calling and a failure at the same time? In Genesis 49, we find Jacob gathering his sons for one of the most profound moments in all of Scripture — a father speaking destiny over his children before he dies. As we walk through this passage together, we are confronted with the reality that God does not ignore our past, but He does not let it have the final word either. Reuben, the firstborn, is a powerful example of this tension. He held every advantage — strength, dignity, position — yet his instability cost him his preeminence. There is something deeply honest and deeply human about that. We all carry moments where we had the opportunity to rise and instead stumbled. What Genesis 49 invites us to wrestle with is whether those moments define us or refine us. The Word of God is not here simply to inform us or make us feel good — it is here to transform us. And transformation often begins with an honest reckoning, just like the one Jacob brings to his sons.
